A Nice Atticus (Namesake) Story by Lance Mannion

I came across this blog entry on Lance Mannion's site. Nice story. I guess I said all of that in the link. Oh well.

Where's the Fire?

Atticus & Dad dressed up for Halloween as firemen. We had a great time! He would say "trick or treat" at about half of the houses, but overall a good first outing.

Hubba Hubba!

1,000th Visitor Wins New Car...

...would have sounded pretty cool. Regardless, we here at the Corner have had our 1,000th visitor. Thanks for coming. Have a Kit Kat.

Fall Finally Falls

As you can see by the mix of inside activity and brisk outdoors, fall has officially begun here. It's about time. Now instead of 100+ degree weather and heavy gusts of wind we have 60ish degree weather and heavy gusts of wind. Atticus doesn't seem to mind.

A Letter to Two

Ah Two, how you mock me so with your promises of terrible times and campaign of fear. True, you do induce the occasional flight and spark random fires of rebellion by planting such weapons as "no" into unsuspecting, and otherwise innocent, conversation, but you have not broken me as you promised. You have a sweet side Two, and for all your prodding and mischief you cannot help but encourage smiles and tenderness in those that you touch.
The boy has welcomed you and taken your teachings to heart. He has embraced you Two, and your sprite-like ways. He is full of spunk, wit and playfulness. You have done well here Two, and while your arrival was marked by the tintinnabulation of party favors and cheers from well-wishers, your stay has been gauged in acts of coquetry for all things puerile and tricksy. I can only imagine that your eventual departure will fall short of being the panacea that is promised for various reasons, namely that I am a realist, but also that I am rascal at heart as well; and I cannot help but think that you never left me some thirty years plus, but rather took refuge somewhere deep inside, allowing for the sequential arrival of Three, then Four and so on, letting them in and then spitting them out.
Thank you Two, you are welcome here.

Man of 1000 Faces

Atticus has his boots, as you know, but he also has some nifty pj's now as well. Get along little doggie/firetruck guy/frog wrangler.
Halloween is almost here, so we stopped by Elmo's world for a quick visit. It was very quick.

Boy Kisses Fish & His Momma

Atticus had a great time on Catalina Island. He hung out with some fish, some pirates, his parents and a new friend, Max.

It's good to be the boy.

Bootboy Strikes Again

Boots with Nana

We've been pretty busy here at Atticus' Corner, but we did take time to make a little video about a boy and his boots. Check the videos to the right (and vote!).

Letter to Bear

Dear Bear,

Thank you for inviting me to see you in LA. I know it must have been hard for you to leave the big blue house. The fact you were coming in for the MDA telethon speaks highly of you and I applaud you for doing so. I was supposed to be on stage for your show pretty early on Saturday morning, but seeing as how it is an hour drive and Mom worked until 1am the night before, my parents just couldn't do it. Dad swears it has nothing to do with his drinking wine until 2:30. I know that this was a great and rare opportunity and while I bid you thanks and regret, please note that I will hold this against my parents for the rest of days.

Sincerely,
Atticus L. Honea

Sea World

We took a little trip this past weekend down to San Diego. Friday night we all went to see Coldplay. Atticus really enjoyed that. On Saturday we went to Sea World. Not only did we have tons of fun enjoying the park but we were with a great group of friends, Dave, Jen, & the Swazey family, which is always nice. Another bonus was that Atticus finally got to play with a boy! For some reason most of our friends seem to have girls and I don't think that he has played with a boy in his age group at all other than a few minutes in the mall play area.

More Than Walking

These boots were made for rainy days
splashing in the spring,
but they have places to go and lots to do-
more than Nancy or Jessica sing

They go on the feet of a happy boy
to be worn inside & out.
Summer, winter, spring or fall
that’s what these boots are ‘bout.

Don’t be fooled by the bright of yellow
or the echo of their hallway din
it isn’t the glow of sun upon them
it’s the son that they’ve got in.

Noah MacAtticus

Lions, tigers, bears! Oh my. Ferrets, macaws, stingrays! Oh geez. The boy has conquered your basic farm and more popular wild beasts, and has since moved on to expand his vocabulary and basic understanding of animal husbandry through the aid of flashcards.

We will be going to SeaWorld this coming week, which should allow for some hands on education, not to mention serious fun. Looking forward to it.

Atticus Speaks "Atticus"

For a while now Atticus has insisted that his name is "Baby", to the point of correcting us by saying, "No, me Baby" when addressed by anything else. Well, that has changed as of this week. Atticus is now At-a-CUS! Sometimes he is Baby At-a-CUS! It's just about the cutest thing I've ever seen, and as you may have guessed I have a long list of cute things that I have witnessed. Now if you will excuse me, I have a middle name to work on.

Fun With Nema & Sydney @ Disneyland

Candy was dandy.

Atticus took over the laser (he beat Nema's score).

We met Tink at the castle.

We had lots of fun. We rode the monorail, hung with some fish, lifted some weights, and the kids drove (us) crazy. Good times were had by all, especially Elliot the dragon.

Return to The Magic Kingdom

Well, just months after his initial snubbing of Cinderella, Atticus came around and planted some sugar on the princess.

Sonny & Cher

cause you got me, and baby I got you
I got you babe

Cousin Sydney stopped by for a little Karaoke last night. The volume only goes to ten, but these crazy kids cranked it up to 11! Rock on!

Gonna Visit the Gang

Go figure, we're going back...again, but that's okay, because it's our favorite place to go. Atticus's favorite cousin is coming for a visit and along with her mom we will be spending a day or two at The Happiest Place on Earth. Why not? When you've got Disneyland in your backyard it's hard to spend your freetime mowing the lawn (which reminds me- must mow lawn). I'm sure we will have a great time and pictures are sure to follow.
